I find it amazing that despite the death of Harry, his memory continues strong in so many people. I did have the pleasure of meeting Harry after a concert in Massey Hall in Toronto in the late 1970's and then again at Hamilton Place in the 1980's. In fact, I was at the taping in which he recorded so many of his greatest stories. Many of my friends who know the music are extremely jealous that I was able to see him a number of times over a five year period.

The Hamilton Place video brings back many memories. I can turn it on and be transported back over 20 years. My daughters, ages 20, 17 and 14, enjoy Harry's music as much as I do and we all enjoy playing this video when ever someone new comes over.

I take great pains to point myself out to my guests; I was six rows up and dead center at the concert. Of course, I had a lot more hair back then.

Harry's music continues to be an inspiration to me even after all these years. His music is as fresh now as it was when I first started listening to it. Truly, Don McLean's song "American Pie" brings memories of Harry Chapin to me, as when he died, it was the day that music died.
